HR 2750 United States House · 118th Congress

Enhancing Electric Grid Resilience Act

This bill establishes new rules for allocating costs of major interstate or offshore transmission projects (over 1,000 MW new capacity or 500 MW expansion) that qualify as "transmission facilities of national significance." It requires the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to ensure these costs are distributed to customers based on the estimated benefits they receive - such as improved grid reliability, resilience, or economic gains - rather than solely on geographic location. The law applies specifically to large-scale projects completed after enactment, affecting utility companies building these facilities and the electricity ratepayers who ultimately cover the costs through their bills. It does not change cost allocation for smaller or non-national significance transmission projects.
