HR 2589 United States House · 118th Congress

No Tax Dollars for First-Class Flights Act

HR 2589, the "No Tax Dollars for First-Class Flights Act," bans the use of federal funds for first-class or business-class airline tickets for Members of Congress and legislative branch employees during official travel. It requires all such travel to be in coach class (defined as the lowest economy fare offered by airlines, regardless of airline terminology like "economy" or "tourist class"). Limited exceptions apply only for cases already permitted under existing federal travel regulations for other government employees. The rule takes effect for all official travel starting in fiscal year 2024.
