CLEAN Public Service Act
HR 158, the CLEAN Public Service Act, ends future retirement coverage for Members of Congress under the Civil Service Retirement System and Federal Employees Retirement System. Effective 90 days after enactment, no further government retirement contributions or payroll deductions will apply to Members, though all retirement benefits earned prior to enactment remain intact. The bill specifically excludes the Vice President and preserves Members' eligibility to participate in the Thrift Savings Plan. It does not alter existing retirement benefits or affect other federal employee programs.
