HR 1352 United States House · 118th Congress

Increasing Access to Biosimilars Act of 2023

HR 1352, the Increasing Access to Biosimilars Act of 2023, establishes a 3-year Medicare demonstration project to test whether paying providers extra when biosimilar drugs cost less than original brand drugs improves access. The project would add a payment to participating Medicare Part B providers based on the cost difference between biosimilars and reference drugs, without increasing patient cost-sharing. Participation is voluntary for providers and does not affect their participation in other Medicare models like the Oncology Care Model. The demonstration aims to evaluate if this approach could expand access to lower-cost biosimilar treatments for Medicare beneficiaries.
