Relating to social workers employed by school districts.

SB 201 defines "school social work services" as specialized support to help students and families overcome learning barriers, connect home/community/school, and address basic needs. It requires school district social workers to collaborate with staff on student learning environments, serve on relevant committees, and help develop violence/suicide prevention and child abuse identification strategies. The bill also allows school boards to mandate that social workers spend at least 80% of their time on these defined duties. The law applies starting the 2025-2026 school year.
