Relating to a limitation on the salary of superintendents and chief executive officers of school districts and open-enrollment charter schools.

HB 974 limits the annual salary of school district superintendents and charter school chief executive officers to the amount authorized for the Texas governor. This includes bonuses but excludes allowances or stipends. Charter schools must also post these salaries on their public websites. The law applies only to new employment contracts entered into on or after September 1, 2025, leaving existing contracts unaffected.
