Relating to appointments to the public transportation advisory committee.

HB 5295 amends Texas Transportation Code to change who appoints members to the Public Transportation Advisory Committee. It replaces the previous system (where the governor, lieutenant governor, and House speaker each appointed one member) with the Texas Transportation Commission making all appointments. The bill requires the committee to include three members representing public transportation providers, three representing transportation users, and three representing the general public. All appointments must be made by January 1, 2026, to fill existing vacancies, and the changes take effect September 1, 2025.
