HB 4792 Texas House · 89th Legislature (2025)

Relating to authorizing certain municipalities to change the date on which their general election for officers is held.

HB 4792 allows specific Texas border municipalities (with over 85,000 residents that host the Texas Citrus Fiesta) to switch their general election date to the statewide November uniform election date. Currently, these cities hold elections on non-November dates, but this bill permits them to align with the standard November election date. Once a city makes this change, it cannot switch back to a different election date. The bill applies only to qualifying border cities and takes effect September 1, 2025.
