HB 4321 Texas House · 89th Legislature (2025)

Relating to the exemption from ad valorem taxation of a percentage of the assessed value of a property owned by certain disabled veterans and the amount of the exemption for the surviving spouses and children of certain disabled veterans.

HB 4321 increases property tax exemptions for disabled veterans in Texas based on their disability rating. Veterans with a 10-30% disability rating get 20% off their property taxes, up to 100% for those with a 100% rating. Veterans over 65 with a 10%+ disability, or those who are blind or lost a limb, qualify for an 80% exemption ($12,000 cap). Surviving spouses receive the veteran’s full exemption amount while unmarried, and unmarried children under 18 may inherit the exemption if the spouse predeceases the veteran.
