Relating to the duties of the district attorney for the 1st Judicial District and the creation of the office of district attorney for the 273rd Judicial District.

HB 3409 creates a new district attorney position for the 273rd Judicial District, to be elected by Sabine County voters. It updates state law to include the 273rd Judicial District in the official list of districts with a district attorney and specifies the office will be used for the 2028 elections. The bill amends the Government Code to clarify the 1st Judicial District's coverage (now limited to San Augustine County) while establishing Sabine County as its own judicial district. The new district takes effect January 1, 2029.
