Relating to the provision of services by nonphysician mental health professionals at school districts.

HB 2633 requires Texas public school districts to employ or contract with nonphysician mental health professionals (such as licensed clinical social workers, counselors, or psychiatric nurses) at a ratio of one professional per 600 students per campus. These professionals must spend at least 80% of their time providing direct or indirect mental health services to students. School districts must demonstrate compliance with these requirements by August 1, 2027, and the law expires August 1, 2028. It takes effect September 1, 2025, directly affecting all Texas public school campuses.
