Relating to a grant program to provide free public school prekindergarten programs to certain children who are eligible for the subsidized child-care program administered by the Texas Workforce Commission.

HB 2395 creates a grant program to fund free prekindergarten (pre-K) classes for children eligible for subsidized child-care through the Texas Workforce Commission. School districts and open-enrollment charter schools can partner with community-based child-care providers to enroll children who are at least three years old and receiving subsidized child-care services. The program limits funding to 3,500 children per school year and requires annual reporting to the legislature on enrollment. This initiative begins for the 2025-2026 school year.
