Relating to the establishment of a statewide human trafficking data repository within the office of the attorney general and to reporting of human trafficking data to the office of the attorney general and by the attorney general.

HB 2318 requires certain Texas agencies - including police departments in counties over 50,000, the Department of Family and Protective Services, and the Texas Department of Public Safety - to report human trafficking case details to the Attorney General. These agencies must submit standardized data on victims and suspects (including names, demographics, locations, and trafficking type under Texas Penal Code Chapters 20A and 43). The bill creates a centralized statewide data repository within the Attorney General’s office to track human trafficking patterns. It amends the Government Code to establish these mandatory reporting requirements.
