Relating to the creation of the Texas Local Government Accountability Association; authorizing a fee.

HB 1735 creates the Texas Local Government Accountability Association, which will develop and publish ethics and transparency standards for cities and counties. Local governments may choose to join the association voluntarily through a vote by their city council or county commission, or be required to join after a petition triggers an election. The association may charge member local governments an annual fee. Membership is optional unless a petition and election lead to mandatory participation.
