Relating to the making and acceptance of political contributions during a special legislative session.

HB 1613 restricts political contributions to statewide officeholders, certain state legislators (those whose terms don't expire in January of the next odd-numbered year), and their supporting committees during a special legislative session. It prohibits making or accepting such contributions from the start of the special session until final adjournment, requiring any received contributions to be returned within 30 days. Exceptions allow contributions for elections held during the session (if made after appointing a campaign treasurer), election contests, or by defeated officeholders and their committees. The law applies only to contributions made on or after the bill's effective date.
