Relating to the medical use of low-THC cannabis by patients with certain medical conditions.

HB 1574 allows Texas physicians to prescribe low-THC cannabis (containing ≤10mg THC per dose) to patients with specific medical conditions, including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain (as an alternative to opioids), cancer, and certain neurodegenerative diseases. It requires physicians to certify a patient’s diagnosis and determine that the benefits reasonably outweigh the risks. The bill applies only to Texas residents and permits the Department of State Health Services to later designate additional qualifying conditions. The law takes effect September 1, 2025.
