Relating to the creation of the Alzheimer's Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

HB 1302 would create the Alzheimer's Prevention and Research Institute of Texas to advance research on Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. The Institute would develop a research plan and award grants to Texas institutions of higher education, medical facilities, and other eligible entities for research, prevention strategies, and treatment development. It would foster collaboration between research institutions to increase Texas' research capabilities and create jobs in the state. The Institute would expire on September 1, 2035, unless the legislature extends its existence under the Texas Sunset Act.
