HB 1287 Texas House · 89th Legislature (2025)

Relating to the use by certain municipalities of certain tax revenue to fund convention center facilities, multipurpose arenas, venues, and related infrastructure.

HB 1287 allows certain Texas municipalities (with populations between 650,000 and 750,000) to use specific tax revenue to fund convention centers, arenas, venues, and related infrastructure. It adds a provision automatically extending the expiration date of designated special tax zones by two years for projects existing before March 15, 2020, due to pandemic-related losses in hotel revenues. The extension applies only to zones designated in or before 2019 and active on March 15, 2020. The bill takes effect September 1, 2025.
