SB 357 Tennessee Senate · 114th Regular Session (2025-2026)

Sullivan County - As enacted, requires the members of a utility district board of commissioners to serve without compensation for their services, except that, by resolution duly adopted by the board of commissioners, each commissioner may receive per diem payments for not more than 12 meetings of the board of commissioners in any calendar year, at rates not greater than $500 per meeting. - Amends TCA Title 2; Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 12; Title 13; Title 66 and Title 67.

SB 357 requires utility district board commissioners in Tennessee to serve without pay, with limited exceptions allowing per diem payments for up to 12 meetings per year at $500 maximum per meeting. This applies directly to commissioners serving on utility district boards across the state, not just Sullivan County. The bill amends multiple sections of Tennessee law (Titles 2, 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 66, and 67) to implement this compensation rule. The law became effective on July 1, 2025, after being signed by the Governor on May 2, 2025.
