Professions and Occupations - As enacted, revises the manner in which a state governmental entity and local health department verifies that an applicant 18 or older who applies for a public benefit is a United States citizen or lawfully present in the United States; makes revisions to the law relative to the board of medical examiners granting a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine to certain temporary licensees. - Amends TCA Title 4; Title 63; Title 68; and Chapter 211 of the Public Acts of 2023.

This law changes how Tennessee verifies citizenship and work authorization for people applying for professional licenses, such as medical or commercial permits. Applicants must now prove they are U.S. citizens or legally authorized to work using the federal SAVE system, though certain visa holders can provide alternative documentation. Additionally, the bill allows temporary medical licensees to receive full, unrestricted licenses after two years of practice, removing previous restrictions on working at training facilities. These updates apply to various occupational boards and take effect on July 1, 2024.
