Insurance, Health, Accident - As enacted, establishes procedures for recoupment of overpayments made to a healthcare provider by certain health insurance entities. - Amends TCA Title 56; Title 63 and Title 68.

This bill establishes new rules for how health insurance companies in Tennessee can recover money they accidentally overpaid to healthcare providers. It limits the time insurance companies have to demand repayment, generally requiring them to act within six months of the original payment unless fraud is involved. The law also mandates that insurers provide detailed written notice at least 60 days before withholding funds and allows providers to appeal the decision while their current payments remain untouched. Additionally, the bill protects providers from having to pay back overpayments discovered shortly after they have already reported the error to the insurer.
