Housing - As enacted, authorizes a municipality to aid or otherwise provide assistance to an industrial development corporation for that portion of any project owned by the corporation; and consisting of multifamily housing facilities to be occupied by persons of low or moderate income, elderly, or handicapped persons, for such term or terms and upon such conditions as may be determined by the governing body of the municipality. - Amends TCA Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 13, Chapter 23; Title 48, Chapter 101, Part 9; Title 67, Chapter 5 and Section 67-4-409.
This bill allows counties in Tennessee to create special escrow accounts to help fund housing projects that include apartments for low-income, elderly, or disabled residents. When a county sets up such an account, it must notify the state housing agency and the chairs of specific legislative committees. The law updates several sections of the state code to formalize this process and requires the action to take effect immediately upon becoming law.
