A BILL TO AMEND CHAPTER 5, TITLE 59 OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, BY ADDING SECTION 59-5-170, TO ESTABLISH THE DIVISION OF INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS WITHIN THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE POWERS, DUTIES, AND AUTHORITY OF THE DIVISION; TO AMEND SECTION 59-39-160 OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES, TO MAKE CONFORMING CHANGES; AND TO ALLOW THE DEPARTMENT TO ENACT EMERGENCY REGULATIONS TO ENSURE THAT HIGH SCHOOL INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES CONTINUE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION.
