This bill creates a Higher Education Task Force within the Department of Education to advise on issues affecting colleges and universities in the state. The task force will include representatives from public institutions, independent nonprofit colleges, and nonpublic schools, with members appointed by their respective statewide associations. To help the group function, the Department of Education is required to provide administrative support, meeting space, and technical assistance such as data and research. The legislation also updates the official name of the group's membership to broadly include "colleges and universities" rather than limiting it to specific types of institutions.
