Relating to school safety; prescribing an effective date.
Summary
Directs district school boards to adopt a policy to provide for the safety of the students of the school district, including the assignment of school resource officers or the provision of other law enforcement coverage for each school of the school district. Authorizes the Department of Education to distribute to school districts moneys from the State School Fund for the purpose of paying for the costs associated with school resource officers or other law enforcement. Takes effect on July 1, 2026.
