It requires these nurses to maintain a written "standard care arrangement" with a collaborating physician or podiatrist who shares a similar medical specialty, outlining how they will refer patients, handle emergencies, and resolve disagreements. The law also establishes rules for notifying the state nursing board of changes in a nurse's collaborating physician and allows nurses to continue practicing for up to 120 days if that collaboration ends due to termination or the physician's death. Additionally, the bill permits hospitals to negotiate these agreements on behalf of their employed nurses, subject to internal hospital approval.
