What changed between versions
Added requirement that routes must receive approval from the chief of police of each municipality and the sheriff of each county through which the motorcycle group is proceeding, rather than just notifying cities.
Added new subsection (d) authorizing the Division to certify applicants based on evidence of completing an approved course and requiring the Division to maintain a list of approved courses.
Added requirement that the Division must develop and offer both initial certification courses and refresher courses for renewal.
Added requirement that the Division must establish procedures for law enforcement officials to verify the validity of a person's motorcycle road guard certification.
Modified eligibility requirements to specify that applicants must possess a valid regular driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement issued pursuant to G.S. 20-7, rather than just any valid driver's license.
Removed the original Section 4 regarding effective date, which was replaced with a new Section 4 maintaining the December 1, 2025 effective date in a different location.
