S 9050 requires gas stations (retailers) and large commercial fuel buyers (wholesale purchaser-consumers) to display a specific warning sign at every gasoline pump. The sign must state: "WARNING: USE OF THIS PRODUCT RELEASES AIR POLLUTANTS AND GREENHOUSE GASES, KNOWN BY THE STATE OF NEW YORK TO BE LINKED TO SIGNIFICANT HEALTH IMPACTS AND CLIMATE CHANGE." Violations carry fines of $500 to $10,000 per day, with each day of non-compliance treated as a separate offense. State or local inspectors can enforce the rule through facility visits, and violators' names and locations will be published monthly.
