Provides for self-attestation for victims of domestic violence

This bill amends the social services law to modify procedures for victims of domestic violence who are applying for or receiving public assistance. It allows individuals to use self-attestation or other relevant information to demonstrate that domestic violence is a barrier to meeting program requirements. This changes the previous process where a domestic violence liaison assessed the credibility of a claim, which often required a sworn statement. Under the updated process, a liaison will conduct an assessment based on the individual's attestation or provided evidence to grant appropriate waivers for requirements such as residency, child support cooperation, or employment training.
