Relates to county committee designations of candidates for certain offices
This bill changes how political parties select candidates for county-wide offices in most counties. Instead of voters choosing nominees through primary elections, county committees must designate candidates using a weighted voting system based on past gubernatorial election results. It applies only to counties not located within cities of over one million people. Candidates receiving 25% or more of the weighted vote can demand placement on the primary ballot.
