S 3183 New York Senate · 2025 Regular Session

Relates to notification requirements for traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring devices and photo speed violation monitoring systems

This bill requires local governments (counties, cities, towns, or villages) operating traffic signal photo enforcement devices or photo speed monitoring systems to install clear signs and pavement markings 100 feet before the device. The signs must state "a traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring device is in use" or "a photo speed violation monitoring system is in use," as applicable. It applies directly to jurisdictions using these automated systems to capture traffic violations. The law takes immediate effect upon enactment.
