Relates to the composition of corn masa flour and wet corn masa product

This bill requires corn masa flour and wet corn masa products sold in the state to contain specific amounts of folic acid. Manufacturers must add 0.7 milligrams of folic acid per pound to dry corn masa flour and 0.4 milligrams per pound to wet corn masa products. Additionally, packaging for these items must include a nutrition label declaring the folic acid content and a statement identifying the product as corn masa flour or made via a wet corn masa process. The law applies to any corn masa flour or wet corn masa product manufactured, sold, or used as an ingredient within the state.
