Relates to the issuance of distinctive license plates to volunteer firefighters

This bill eliminates all fees for volunteer firefighters to obtain distinctive license plates in New York State. It removes the previous $15 one-time service charge and $31.25 annual fee that were required for these plates, making them free for eligible volunteer firefighters. The change applies specifically to the special plates issued under Section 404-b of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. Volunteer firefighters will now pay only the standard vehicle registration fee, with no additional charges for these distinctive plates. The bill takes effect immediately upon enactment.
