Requires schools to follow seizure action plans developed by health care providers of students diagnosed with a seizure disorder

Updated the seizure action plan to be provided to the board of trustees or governing board in addition to the board of education, and added a requirement to resubmit the plan if it is updated.

Changed the requirement for seizure rescue medication administration to mandate that it be performed by a school nurse or another appropriately trained professional in the absence of the nurse.

Added a new Section 3039 to establish seizure awareness training requirements for all public school districts and boards of cooperative educational services.

Added a new definition for 'school function' to include events occurring outside of school property and redefined 'student' to reference the federal Food and Drug Administration.

Expanded liability protections to explicitly cover boards of cooperative educational services and their agents or employees.
