Requires cable television companies to issue credits for service outages

Bill A 8369 requires cable television companies to issue credit allowances to residential subscribers for service outages. For outages lasting 24 hours or more, subscribers receive one-thirtieth of their monthly rate for each 24-hour period. Shorter outages may also qualify for a credit if service was substantially impaired and requested, or if the outage lasts at least four hours within a 24-hour period. The bill specifies that the credit period for outages caused by commercial power loss begins 24 hours after power is restored, and it does not apply to interruptions for emergency alerts or to certain commercial customers.
