The definition of 'immediate family member' was expanded to include siblings, stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings, grandparents, and grandchildren, whereas it previously only included spouses, birth parents, and adoptive parents.
New provisions were added to explicitly grant admission rights to veterans with the newly defined family members at the Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook University.
The residency requirement for the newly included family members was reduced from one year to six months prior to the application date.
