Establishes the New York state autonomous vehicle task force

Bill A 8109 establishes the New York state autonomous vehicle task force within the Department of Transportation. This task force will study the use of self-driving cars on New York roads, including current usage, regional differences within the state, and comparisons with other states. It will be comprised of members appointed by the Governor, legislative leaders, and the DOT Commissioner. The task force is mandated to collaborate with state and city agencies and submit a report with its findings, conclusions, and recommendations to the Governor and Legislature by January 1, 2027.
