Relates to permitting a plaintiff to recover directly against a third party defendant found to be liable in certain actions

This bill allows a plaintiff who has won a lawsuit but cannot collect the money from the losing defendant to directly seek payment from a third party who owes money to that defendant. Under the new rules, if the defendant fails to pay within thirty days, the plaintiff can either collect directly from a third party already found liable for contribution or indemnification, or take over the defendant's legal claim against that third party to get a judgment in their own name. The law specifically excludes cases involving workers' compensation claims and situations where the injured person's own employer is the third party. It applies immediately to all judgments entered on or after the date the law takes effect.
