Provides insurance coverage for cranial prostheses

This bill requires insurance policies in New York that cover prostheses to also cover cranial prostheses, defined as wigs or hairpieces, for individuals experiencing medical hair loss due to conditions like alopecia or lupus. Coverage is available only when a licensed medical provider prescribes the item as part of treatment and is limited to one purchase every twelve months with a maximum payment of $750 per instance. The law applies to individual, group, and hospital service plans and includes standard cost-sharing requirements such as deductibles and co-pays.
