Relates to late fees for failure to timely complete the on-line training course for lobbyists and clients

This bill allows the New York State Ethics Commission to charge late fees if lobbyists and their clients do not finish their required online ethics training on time. The training covers state laws regarding public officials and election rules, and individuals must complete it within 90 days of registration and again every two years while they remain registered. If a person misses the deadline, the commission can assess a penalty of up to $25 for each day the course remains incomplete. This change applies specifically to those who register as lobbyists or clients with the state and are subject to the existing training mandate.
