Relates to electronic appearance in connection with a criminal action

This bill allows criminal courts in Monroe County to permit defendants to appear electronically instead of in person for certain proceedings. The measure requires that the court chief administrator approves the use of this technology and that the defendant agrees to it after speaking with their lawyer. Once these conditions are met, the defendant must give consent at the start of each electronic appearance. The law applies to a wide range of criminal actions but explicitly excludes hearings and trials, which still require physical presence.
