S 8505 New York Senate · 2023 Regular Session

Provides for the incorporation of the Bedford Hills Fire Department Benevolent Association

This bill creates a legal entity called the Bedford Hills Fire Department Benevolent Association to support the volunteer firefighters of the Bedford Hills Fire Department in Westchester County. The association will provide financial aid, health benefits, and social activities specifically for volunteer members who have completed at least five years of service, while excluding paid firefighters and those removed from the department. Eligible volunteers can join by notifying the fire department secretary or attending an upcoming organization meeting, after which the group will adopt its own bylaws and elect a seven-member board of trustees. The new corporation will manage funds collected from fire insurance taxes to further its mission of supporting volunteer members and their families.
