Relates to permitting a plaintiff to recover directly against a third party defendant found to be liable in certain actions

This bill allows a plaintiff who has received an unsatisfied court judgment to directly collect money from a third party that owes money to the original defendant. Under the new rules, if a defendant fails to pay a judgment within thirty days, the plaintiff can step in and claim the amount the third party owes the defendant for contribution or indemnification. The law also lets the plaintiff take over the defendant's legal claim against the third party to secure payment, provided the third party is not the plaintiff's own employer or covered by workers' compensation rules. These changes take effect immediately and apply to any judgments entered on or after the bill's passage.
