Allows a licensed pharmacist to order and administer certain tests

This bill expands the role of licensed pharmacists by allowing them to order and administer specific medical tests, including those for COVID-19, influenza, RSV, strep throat, diabetes, hepatitis C, and HIV. Under the new provisions, pharmacists would be recognized as qualified healthcare professionals capable of directing limited-service laboratories for these FDA-authorized tests. The legislation applies to pharmacists operating within the state and requires them to adhere to existing federal waiver standards for clinical laboratory improvements. While the law takes effect immediately, certain sections related to pharmacist authority are set to expire four years after enactment.
