Establishes the hospice and palliative care workgroup

This bill creates a new Hospice and Palliative Care Workgroup within the state Department of Health to study and improve end-of-life care services in New York. The group will include representatives from various government agencies, universities, medical organizations, and patient advocates who will meet to identify gaps in current care, review financial incentives, and develop strategies for expanding high-quality services. Members will serve one-year terms without pay and must submit an initial report of their findings and recommendations by December 31, 2023, to state leaders and health officials. The legislation is temporary, set to expire five years after it takes effect, at which point the workgroup and its provisions will be automatically repealed.
