Requires fire-resistant material applicators to undergo training and certification

This bill mandates that individuals who spray fire-resistant materials onto surfaces must complete a state-approved training program and obtain certification before working. The state fire administrator is responsible for creating the curriculum, which will be based on manufacturer specifications, and for issuing certificates to those who successfully finish the course. Anyone caught applying these materials without the required training and certification will face a fine of up to $250 for each violation. The changes apply immediately to all current and future applicators of cementitious or fibrous fire-resistant materials.
