Relates to developing criteria and guidelines for state designated arts and cultural districts

This bill directs the state Council on the Arts to create specific criteria and guidelines for designating local areas as state-recognized arts and cultural districts. It allows cities, towns, or villages to apply individually or jointly with neighboring municipalities to establish these geographic zones, which are defined by a concentration of arts and cultural facilities. To qualify, a proposed district must meet standards such as attracting artists and businesses, encouraging job growth, drawing tourism, and enhancing local property values. Once designated, the Department of Economic Development will work with the Council to provide technical assistance, marketing support, and help identifying state resources to aid these districts.
