"NEW MEXICO TRIO PROGRAMS DAY"

This House Memorial (HM 14) declares January 29, 2026, as "New Mexico TRIO Programs Day" to honor TRIO programs in New Mexico. TRIO programs - funded federally - support first-generation, low-income students in preparing for and accessing higher education. The memorial recognizes that New Mexico hosts 38 TRIO programs serving nearly 10,000 students annually with $12.5 million in federal funding. It does not create new policy or funding but symbolically acknowledges these programs' role in expanding college opportunities. The resolution was introduced to honor the 62nd anniversary of TRIO programs' creation.
