SJR 16 designates November 22 of each year as "22q Awareness Day" in New Jersey to increase public awareness of genetic conditions caused by variations in chromosome 22q11.2, such as DiGeorge Syndrome and velocardiofacial syndrome. The resolution recognizes the International 22q11.2 Foundation for its work unifying terminology, connecting affected families, and providing resources to over 50,000 families worldwide, while encouraging early diagnosis and support for these conditions.
