This bill creates a Restaurant Meals Program in New Jersey that allows homeless, disabled, or elderly SNAP recipients to use their benefits at approved restaurants instead of only purchasing groceries. The Department of Human Services will oversee the program, with county welfare agencies selecting participating restaurants based on local needs and administrative capacity. Institutions of higher education in eligible counties must apply to participate if they operate on-campus restaurants and must inform students about the program. The bill also requires annual reporting to the Governor and Legislature on program participation and approved vendor locations.
